- The Director-General of Police C. Sylendra Babu ordered the launch of ‘Operation Kanthuvatti’ across Tamil Nadu to curb the menace.
- The Police were told to take up cases of usury pending at all police stations and initiate action under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2003.
