Operational guidelines to Integrate NAFLD

- The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has launched the operational guidelines to Integrate the Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) with National Programme for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS).
NAFLD
- It is an abnormal condition where fat accumulate in liver in the absence of secondary causes of fatty liver.
- It will also include the viral hepatitis, alcohol use or medications.
NPCDCS
- This programme was launched in the year 2010 to prevent and control major Non-Communicable Diseases.
- The programme focuses on human resource development, strengthening the infrastructure, early diagnosis, health promotion, management and referral.
