  • By 2050, nearly one billion people globally are projected to be living with osteoarthritis.
  • Currently, 15 per cent of the world's population aged 30 years or above experience osteoarthritis.
  • In 2020, 595 million people were found to be affected by osteoarthritis.
  • It is a 132 per cent increase from 256 million people in 1990.
  • In 1990, obesity was found to be responsible for 16 per cent of the disability due to osteoarthritis.
  • It had risen to 20 per cent in the year 2020.
  • In 2020, 61 per cent of osteoarthritis cases were in women versus 39 per cent in men.
