- The Indian Parliamentary Group (IPG) conferred the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award for 2017 on Biju Janata Dal leader in the Lok Sabha Bhartruhari
- Trinamool Congress member of the Lok Sabha Dinesh Trivedi gets the award for 2016 and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad (Congress) for 2015.
- Rajya Sabha member Najma Heptulla gets the award for 2013 and Lok Sabha member Hukumdev Narayan Yadav for 2014.
- The awardees were selected on the basis of their experience, debating skills, awareness of issues and the depth with which issues were raised
- The Outstanding Parliamentarian Award is an award given by the Indian Parliamentary Group to an outstanding sitting Member of the Indian Parliament for overall contribution in the Indian Parliament.
- It was instituted in 1992 by Shivraj Patil, who was the Speaker of Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996.
- Indian Parliamentary Group is a 24-member autonomous body of the current and former MPs of both houses.
- The group is headed by the Speaker.
