- The Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been yet again appointed as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
- Every year, the Lok Sabha Speaker re-constitutes the panels including PAC.
- It is traditionally headed by the representative of the main Opposition party.
- The PAC is the most powerful panel of the Parliament.
- It is empowered to consider all CAG reports and give recommendations to Government.
- The panel can look into any accounts and fund flow and its irregularity related issue to examine and summon any Government officers and private individuals.
- Though Chairman has authority to discuss and select any subject to be examined, voting system helps the ruling party to take decisions in the report.
