- Pakistan PM Imran Khan had effectively lost the majority in the 342-member National Assembly of Pakistan.
- The Deputy Speaker Suri of Pakistan dismissed the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition against Prime Minister Khan.
- He termed terming it against the Constitution and rules of Pakistan.
- After that, Imran Khan advised President Alvi to dissolve the National Assembly.
- Meanwhile, President Alvi dissolved both assemblies.
- He said fresh elections will be held within 90 days.
- The Supreme Court in Pakistan is all set to hear the dismissal of a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
- Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial was taking a suo motu cognizance of the current political situation in the country.
- Meanwhile, Imran Khan may continue as Pakistan’s prime minister till President Alvi appoints the caretaker prime minister.
- But however, Imran Khan nominated former Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed for the office of caretaker Prime Minister.
