- President Draupadi Murmu launched India’s latest super computer Param-Kamrupa.
- It is a high-performance computing cluster named after Assam’s historic kingdom of Kamrupa.
- This supercomputer facility has replaced Param-Ishan as the northeast region’s fastest and most powerful supercomputer.
- Param-Ishan was inaugurated in IIT Guwahati in 2016.
- Param-Kamrupa was set up at IIT Guwahati under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).
- NSM is a joint initiative of the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) and the department of Science and Technology (DST).
- There were 15 such super computers that were deployed across the country.
