- Tamil Nadu plans to make available the People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBR) online.
- It is an effort to protect its natural resources as well as traditional knowledge of its people.
- It will be the first in the country to make the inventory of valuable natural resources online.
- Making an inventory of animals and plants is mandated by the National Biological Diversity Act of 2002.
- The register apart from covering plants, herbs and wildlife, also covers cropland, fruit plants, fodder crops, people’s scape, landscapes and waterscapes.
