- Notable Achievements:
- Renamed the Madras State as Tamilnadu
- Gave legal recognition to “Self-respect” marriages which deny Vedic rituals.
- Introduced 2 language policy in the state.
- First Non-Congress CM with full majority.
- In 1969, his funeral was world’s second largest and the record still holds.
- According to Guinness Book of records 1.5 crore people attended his funeral procession.
