Physically Inactive Adolescents: Lancet Study

  • According to the first-ever study on global trend for adolescent insufficient activity, 85% of girls and 78% of boys were found to have extremely high levels of insufficient physical activity.
  • The report was released by World Health Organisation and published in published in the Lancet Child & Adolescent Health journal.
  • The study is based on data reported by 1.6 million 11 to 17-year-old students across 146 countries during 2001-16 period.
  • In India, 71.8% of boys and 76.3% of girls were classified as “physically inactive’’.
  • Cricket and domestic chores were blamed as the reason for boys and girls being physically inactive.

Pls review last 2 points in ur page In India (2016), 71.8% boys & 76.3% girls were physically inactive. physical inactivity ?creaed in 2016 when compared to 2011 due to indian boys playing gully cricket and indian girls doing household chores.
