- The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed a population control bill titled The Uttar Pradesh Population (Control, Stabilization and Welfare) Bill, 2021.
- The Uttar Pradesh government announced a new population policy for 2021-2030.
- The Bill called to debar those having more than two children from contesting in local polls.
- They will also be prevented from applying for or getting promotion in government jobs.
- They would also be debarred from receiving government subsidy.
- The new policy has provisions to give incentives to those who help in population control.
- The Public servants who adopt the two-child norm will get two additional increments during the entire service.
- They will get maternity or paternity leave of 12 months with full salary and allowances.
- Three percent increase in the employer’s contribution fund under the National Pension Scheme.
