- Duque's running mate became the first woman ever elected to the nation's vice presidency.
- The elections were the first to be held since a 2016 peace deal with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
- Duque is a social conservative who opposes gay marriage, euthanasia and the decriminalization of drugs. He will become Colombia's youngest president.
