The anniversary of the Declaration of Windhoek is celebrated as World Press Freedom Day.
This day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 1993, following the recommendation of UNESCO's General Conference.
The theme for 2024 is “A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis.”
