- The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), in collaboration with the Karnataka State Drug Control Department, has launched the Price Monitoring and Resource Unit in the state.
- The main objective of the PMRU is to help the NPPA in monitoring the prices of drugs and also the availability of such drugs in the state.
- NPPA is Constituted in 1997 and it is a government regulatory agency that controls the prices of pharma drugs in the country.
- Karnataka is 12th state where PMRU was setup.
- Already setup - Kerala, Odisha, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Nagaland, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Mizoram.
