- Russia has offered India to replace the R-77 air-to-air missile under the wings of the Su-30MKI with the R-37M missile.
- The R-37M is also known by its NATO reporting name AA-13 Axe head.
- It is a long-range air-to-air missile developed by Russia.
- The R-77 has a maximum engagement distance of about 100 kilometers, significantly less than the R-37M’s 300-400 kilometers.
- Speed-wise, the R-77 reaches up to Mach 4-5, while the R-37M can hit Mach 6.
