- Railway Protection Force (RPF) celebrated its 35th Raising Day on September 20.
- It was celebrated to commemorate the conferring of the Armed Force status on RPF on par with the other paramilitary forces of the Union of India on September 20, 1985.
- The force is under the authority of the Ministry of Railways.
- It has the power to search, arrest, investigate and prosecute, though the ultimate power rests in the hands of the Union Government Railway Police.
- Arun Kumar IPS is the current Director General of RPF.
