- On March 30 of 1949, the princely states of Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner merged to form the 'Greater Rajasthan Union'.
- On May 15, 1949, the Matsya Union merged with Greater Rajasthan to create a single, unified state of Rajasthan.
- The State Reorganisation Act of November 1, 1956 also brought some minor changes in Rajasthan.
