- The state archaeology department’s excavations in Vembakottai, Virudhunagar are in the second phase.
- A terracotta pot, in which a liquid had been boiled till it overflowed, and a lamp were found in the site.
- Four burial urns, including two which were intact, were found in a Sivasangupatti village four kilometres from the excavation site.
- More than 3,000 artefacts were unearthed in the first phase.
- It was including beads, toys, pots made of terracotta, and thousands of shell bangles.
