- In a referendum held recently, People of Chile have voted overwhelmingly in favour of rewriting the country’s nearly four-decade-old constitution
- The Chilean people also voted to elect an assembly of 155 members to draw up the new constitution.
- The existing system was established during the rule of dictator Pinochet without any popular inputs in 1980.
