An international team of geologists and seismologists has created a newly refined map of Zealandia.
It is considered to be the ‘eighth continent of the world’ that is beneath the Pacific Ocean.
The Zealandia is a vast continent of 1.89 million sq miles (4.9 million sq km) that is around six times the size of Madagascar.
If classified as a microcontinent, Zealandia would be the world's largest micro continent.
It is believed that 94% of Zealandia under the sea.
The remaining 6% make up New Zealand and surrounding islands.
Zealandia is also substantially larger than the Arabian Peninsula (3,237,500 km2 or 1,250,000 sq mi), the world's largest peninsula, and the Indian subcontinent (4,300,000 km2 or 1,700,000 sq mi).
