- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced a major relaxation in the country's Islamic personal laws.
- It is loosening alcohol restrictions such as alcohol consumption, sales and possession for those aged 21 and above.
- It is also allowing cohabitation of unmarried couples and criminalising honour killings.
- UAE is to host the World Expo in Dubai from October 2021- March 2022.
