The government of Tamil Nadu has adopted a resolution urging the government of India to drop the CUET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test) proposal.
Except for the Bharatiya Janata Party, the resolution was unanimously supported by all other parties.
In the resolution passed by the state, the assembly stated that an entrance exam based on the National Council of Education Research and Training syllabus will not be providing equal opportunity to all the students as there are varied state boards across the country.
Tamil Nadu government has argued that due to CUET the number of students studying in various central universities in the state and their affiliated colleges would be reduced.
Also, the state government argued that the CUET will not be able to uplift the marginalized students of society.
