- However, imports of coking coal which is used mainly in the manufacturing of steel fell marginally.
- India is the second largest producer of the coal in the World while China is the first.

- The world’s two largest coal consuming countries are also the world’s two most populous nations: China and India.
- Other top producers of coal, such as Australia, the US and Indonesia, have excess capacity to export after satisfying their domestic demands.
