- Former Manipur Chief Minister and a member of the first Lok Sabha RishangKeishing passed away on August 22nd, 2017. The veteran Congress leader was 96.
- RishangKeishingwas born in BungpaKhunou village in the present-day Ukhrul district of Manipur on October 25, 1920.
- Keishing contested and got elected to the first Lok Sabha in 1952 as a candidate of the Socialist Party.
