- Russian President Vladimir Putin has inaugurated two new nuclear-powered submarines.
- The two submarines have been named Krasnoyarsk and Emperor Alexander III.
- The emperor Alexander III is part of the new Borei (Arctic Wind) class of nuclear submarines, the first new generation Moscow has launched since the Cold War.
