- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Neelam Kapoor as Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
- Kapoor, a 1982 batch officer of the Indian Information Service (IIS) was earlier worked as a Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau.
- SAI is an apex National Sports body set up in 1984 by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the development of sport in India.
- It is headquartered at, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Delhi).
