- NASA’s robotic spacecraft Osiris-Rex briefly touched down on the rocky surface of asteroid Bennu.
- It collects rock and dust samples almost 330 million kilometres from the Earth.
- A precision technique called the ‘touch-and-go’ or TAG manoeuvre was used for the historic mission.
- Any collected samples won’t reach Earth until 2023.
- Bennu is the smallest celestial body a spacecraft has ever orbited.
