- The Karnataka Social Welfare Department has formally launched the Samruddhi scheme in the state.
- It is an 800-crore entrepreneurship and skill development scheme, for the economically and socially underprivileged youth of small towns.
- It aims to train the youth from SC and ST communities through private organisations in retail management and franchise opportunities.
- The government will later certify and finance to the eligible trainees with seed grants of up to10 lakh each to set up their own franchises.
- By the scheme, the government plans to create about 10000 entrepreneurs by 2021.
