  • Department of Science and Technology recently released the Scientific Social Responsibility Guidelines.
  • The 104th session of the Indian Science Congress, held in 2017, also stressed the need to introduce SSR guidelines.
  • SSR guidelines aim to ensure greater integration of S&T with society at all levels.
  • SSR is based on the moral obligation of scientists to give back the benefits of science to society.
  • Thus, SSR will be the convergence of scientific knowledge and social conscience.
