- Gauba was the key architect of the recent Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act which divided Kashmir into two Union Territories.
- Ajay Kumar has been appointed as Secretary, Defence.
- Subhash Chandra has been appointed as Secretary, Defence Production.
- Similarly, Brij Kumar Agarwal will be Secretary, Lokpal.
