- Prime Minister conferred the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes for 2016, 2017 and 2018 to the awardees.
- This Prize is given each year to recognize outstanding Indian work in various disciplines of Science and Technology.
- 11 scientists were given the Prize for 2016. The awardees include Dr Rishikesh Narayan of Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and Dr Amalendu Krishna of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.
- 10 scientists were given prize for 2017, which includes Dr Deepak Gaur of JNU, Delhi and Dr S. Suresh Babu of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.
- 13 scientists were given prize for 2018 which includes Dr Amit Kumar of IIT, Delhi and Dr Nitin Saxena, IIT, Kanpur.
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology (SSB)
- It is a science award in India given annually by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
- The award is named after the founder Director of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar.
- It was first awarded in 1958.
- Any citizen of India engaged in research in any field of science and technology up to the age of 45 years is eligible for the prize.
