- Shi Yomi formally became the 23rd district of Arunachal Pradesh after it was officially inaugurated by its Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
- It was created by bifurcating the West Siang district with its headquarters at Tato.
- Two more districts Pakke-Kesang and Lepa Rada will be formally inaugurated in the state, taking the total to 25.
