- The Sillahalla Ecological Social Protection Association (SESPA) urged to scrap the Silhalla pumped hydro-electric storage project considering the fragile ecology of the Nilgiris.
- The proposed hydroelectric project aims at building the two dams with a 10 km tunnel and is going to be developed in the middle of the said 25 villages.
- It is warned that around 1,000 acres of farming land and 500 acres of forest land would likely be submerged.
