Six metros – Nitrogen Oxide pollution

  • Based on analysis by environmental NGO Greenpeace India, several Indian cities are major hotspots for rising levels of nitrogen oxide.
  • Nitrogen Oxide is a dangerous pollutant which contributes to the formation of ozone.
  • Metros namely Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad are Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) hotspots due to high vehicular population and diesel consumption.
