- The Union government has identified National Institute of Technology-Trichy as one of the ‘skill hubs’ under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme.
- It aims to provide skill training to youths including school and college students and dropouts in and around Trichy.
- The training programme will be extended to unemployed youths, and that the skill training centre would be launched soon.
- NIT-Trichy will be the nodal skill centre to provide development and vocational training opportunities to the target population segments.
