Solicitor General of India - Ranjith Kumar, the second highest ranking law officer of the government Of India has resigned.

The Solicitor General of India is the second law officer of the country, assists the Attorney General, and is himself assisted by several Additional Solicitors General of India.
It is notable that there is no mentioning about Solicitor General of India in Indian Constitution.
The Solicitor General of India is appointed for the period of 3 years.
Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appoints the Solicitor General and the Additional Solicitors General and it’s a statutory post. But Attorney General is appointed by president under Art 76(1).
It should be noted that office and duties of Attorney General is created by the Constitution under the Article 76.
Solicitor General and Additional Solicitor Generals’ office and duties are governed by Law Officers (Conditions of Service) Rules, 1987 and not by the constitution.
