- The Bureau of Indian standards published Test Specifications for Lithium-ion (Li-ion) Traction Battery Packs and Systems (Performance Testing) for Electric Vehicle.
- The standard IS 17855:2022 for these battery packs and systems is harmonised with ISO 12405-4: 2018.
- BIS is the National Standard Body of India working under Department of Consumer affairs of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
- It was established by Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
- It is for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods.
- It involves Certification, Hallmarking (Gold jewellery), Eco Mark (environmentally friendly products), Compulsory registration (for electronic items) and Laboratory services.
