- State of Aadhaar report has been released on the completion of the tenth year of its existence.
- This report was done by the IDinsight and Omidyar Network of India.
- The report has also stated that 80% of participants felt that Aadhaar improved the reach of government schemes and services faster.
- Aadhaar even after 10 years is the world’s largest bio metric ID system in the world.
Aadhaar
- The Aadhaar number is a verifiable twelve-digit unique identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to the residents of India.
- It is linked with the resident’s demographic and biometric information.
- The Aadhaar project was conceptualised in the year 2006 and launched in the year 2009 with the creation of UIDAI.
