India has operationalized its 1st indigenous Nuclear capable, Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) after 2 decades of development.
It was secretly test fired back-to-back from an indigenously built nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arihant, off Visakhapatnam coast.
It was code-named, B-05 and was inducted in the Navy. It is 10m in length and has a strike range of about 750 km weighing 10 tonnes.
The successful mission has made India a member of the very exclusive club of six nations which is capable of firing nuclear-tipped missiles from land, air and undersea.
