  • This UNESCO World Heritage site is renowned for its unique biodiversity and cultural significance.
  • Seasonal flooding from the Omo River is making up over 90% of its inflow.
  • The lake hosts 79 fish species, including 12 endemics, and the largest population of Nile crocodiles.
  • The last lake wide acoustic survey was done by Hopson in 1974.
