  • The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore has developed BiPAP ventilator named Swasth Vayu.
  • It is a non-invasive breathing support device, for the use of non-critical non-ICU cases of Covid-19.
  • BiPAP stands for Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure. 
  • It is a type of positive pressure ventilator.
  • The ventilator has been designed in a record time of 36 days.
  • The ventilator includes provisions to connect oxygen concentrator externally. 
  • The ventilator has been accredited by NABL.
  • NABL is National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories.
