- The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee decided to expand the ‘Swasthya Sathi’ health scheme in order to cover the entire population of the state.
- It is a health scheme which was officially launched by the West Bengal government in December 2016.
- It provides basic health cover for secondary and tertiary care up to 5 lakh INR per annum per family.
