Swiss and India: Automatic Exchange of Information

- The Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) regime kicked off between Switzerland and India from September 1, 2019.
- With this, banking details of Indians with accounts in Switzerland will be available to Indian tax authorities.
- India will receive information of the calendar year 2018 in respect of all financial accounts held (or closed) by Indian residents in Switzerland.
- AEOI is the exchange of information between countries without having to request it.
- India and Switzerland had signed AEOI on November 22, 2016
