- On the eve of the Karnataka-Haryana Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 semis clash, Abhimanyu Mithun created history.
- He becomes only the second bowler to pick five wickets in six balls in T20 history (5 for 39), including a hattrick of three wickets.
- The Tournament is named after Syed Mustaq Ali who holds the distinction of scoring the first overseas Test century by an Indian player when he scored 112 against England at Old Trafford in 1936.
- It is held by BCCI since 2009-10.
