  • The second edition of Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize in ‘Literary’ category was awarded to author Rana Dasgupta for his 2010 novel "Solo".
  • The novel is a tale of estrangement and the ultimate failure of material existence.
  • An amount of $10,000, a Tagore statue and a certificate for contribution to literature was given to Dasgupta.
  • Japan’s Yohei Sasakawa was chosen for the same award  in “Social Achievement” category.
  • He was awarded for his incredible efforts to uproot leprosy and for his great contribution to the world peace.
  • The annually awarded Tagore prize aims for revival of poetry and books that can change lives.
