- Union Minister Mahesh Sharma administered a pledge called “Taj Declaration to Beat Plastic Pollution” to Agra Residents.
- It was done with an aim to make 500-meter area around Taj Mahal litter free and phase out single use plastic.
- The pledge was made in the presence of United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Executive Director Erik Solheim and UNEP Goodwill Ambassador Diya Mirza.
- The declaration came in line with the World Environment day (June 5) which has a slogan of ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.
