- Traditionally, November 1 is the State reorganization Day.
- On November 1, 1956, the Linguistic Reorganisation of States was done in the country.
- During this process, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala “went away” from the then Madras State.
- Subsequently Madras State was renamed as Tamil Nadu on July 18,1967, when C N Annadurai was the Chief Minister.
