Tamil Nadu receives five awards from Centre

  • Tamil Nadu has received five awards from the central government for effectively implementing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.
  • Municipal administration and rural development Minister S.P Velumani received the award for Excellence in NREGA Administration.
  • The state government has also received an award for the initiatives under Geo-MGNREGA, performance in Aadhaar seeding and conversion.
  • Tuticorin district administration got a national award for achieving self-sufficiency under seven schemes under Grama Swaraj Abhiyan.
  • District Collectors Annadurai and Prashant M Wadnere have been honored for effective implementation of the scheme in Thanjavur and Tiruvannamalai districts.
