Tamilnadu Agricultural Budget 2022 highlights

  • Rs 33,000-crore are allocated in this year for the Agriculture Budget for 2022-23.
  • This year, the allocation for the agriculture sector rose by Rs 231.90 crore from Rs 32,775.78 crore allotted last year.
  • The Tamil Nadu government will provide free electricity to all farmers across the state and has allocated Rs 5,157.56 crore for the same.
  • The food grain production target for 2022-23 will be 126 lakh metric tonnes.
  • The “Sustainable Cotton Cultivation Mission” will be implemented at a budget of Rs.15.32 crore with Union and State Government fund, in order to enhance the Cotton yield.
  • The special measures are being taken to increase soybean cultivation in Tanjore, Salem, Tiruvallur, Nellai and Villupuram districts of the state.
  • Kalaignarin All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Programme scheme will be implemented at an outlay of Rs.300 crore in 3,204 village panchayats converged with Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam.
  • 4 new Uzhavar Sandhais will be stablished in the districts of Dharmapuri, Nagapattinam, Vellore and Tirupattur at a total cost of Rs 10 crore.
  • The state government will distribute 10 lakh palm seeds to increase the number of the state tree - palmyra.
  • A special incentive of Rs 195 per metric tonne will be given to the sugarcane farmers. It will benefit 1.2 lakh farmers.
  • An exclusive portal called “Tamil Mann Valam” will be launched in co-ordination with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
