Tamilnadu government announces Singaravelar award for writers

Tamilnadu Government has introduced ‘Singaravelar Award’, which will be awarded annually for best writers in Tamil language on behalf of Tamil Development Department.
The award will be given to writers who write scientific concepts in Tamil , books related to Social Progress, Egalitarian Policies and Labour Forces.
The prize includes 1 lakh cash prize and 8 gram gold medal.
M.Singaravelu
Malayapuram Singaravelu Chettiar (18 February 1860 – 11 February 1946), also known as M. Singaravelu and Singaravelar is a communist leader and founder of the first trade union in India.
For his commendable works in spreading communist thoughts in tamilnadu, he was called “Sindhanai Sirppi” (Sculptor of thoughts).
Instead of giving award to a single person, you may honor more number of talented every year either by dividing the allotted fund equally or by increasing the fund. I will be happy if you honor as many as possible.
